"I Owe You"

Written By: Stone Angel

Disclaimer: Oh, please. Do you honestly think I'm making money off this? If I was, I'd be writing a whole lot more and it wouldn't take getting drunk to do it. I don't own the characters or the show, if I did, it would be SOOO different. Screw the war, let's see how we can get Heero and Duo in a locked room after taking away their clothes. (wolfish grin) I just like to make the creators cry with the way I write their characters. ^____^ Mission accomplished. hehehe

Rating: PG13

Warnings: Shonen ai, sap, fluff(I think. ~_~'), little bit of angst,
attempted humor(RUN NOW!).

Pairings: 1+2

Authors Notes: Ok, people. Too many people asked for a sequel to You Owe Me for me to ignore it so I decided that it would be mean not to write it. But I am on my friggin knees, begging you to NOT ask for a sequel to this one. I don't think anyone will ask for one, but even so. I have a lot on my plate. I got a chalange to do a sequel to I'm Just A Kid(remember that one?) so I have that, then there's my other fics in the making, and then there's real life. Grrr. I hate that last one.

This one is basically the next morning and what must be said. There's
also humor and sap and all that good stuff so have fun. ^_^

I Owe You:

The first thing that Duo noticed when he awoke was just that: He awoke. After not sleeping for so long, he had forgotten what it was to wake up.

`Wait. Does that mean that I slept?' He looked to his side to see Heero sleeping in the same bed as he and his fuzzy memory came back to him. The church, his emotional breakdown afterwards, Heero taking the mission for him, then coming in and holding Duo as he slept. He smiled slightly as he gazed on Heero's sleeping features.

The hair was messier if that was at all possible, the deep bue eyes were closed, and his lips were slightly parted. Though, Duo noticed, even in his sleep, Heero's brow had the slightest hint of his usual scowl.

`Why did Heero... Why did Heero do that?' He only had a few seconds to ponder, however, as the other boy stretched and blinked bleary eyes open.

Once Heero's eyes met Duo, he scowled and looked him over, his almost sweet nature from last night gone, seemingly without a trace. "You look like shit."

Duo nearly fell over at the drastic change in his fellow pilot. Instead he snorted and gave Heero a lightpunch. "Well. Good morning to you, too, asshole."

"Hn." Heero rubbed his hand over his eyes and hair, tousling it back into place.

"Ne, Hee_"

"I'll get breakfast." And Heero was up and out the bedroom door.

It took a moment for Duo to process that. "Break...fast...?" He was puzzled. Heero never spoke to him if he could help it. And now he was going to bring him breakfast? `This just gets weirder and weirder all the time. Che. Hey! Maybe, deep down, Heero is really a nice guy. Yeah, and the likelihood of that is... Well... It's NOT. So... Why is he being so... Civil?'

At that moment, Heero walked in with a plate of scrambled eggs and toast and shoved it at Duo. "Here."

Duo turned his nose away. "No thanks." He turned his eyes to Heero's and gazed at him for a moment before looking down. "Um. Heero. Why did you do that? This? All this? I mean, you know, why are you being nice?"

Heero's scowl deepened and his voice was hard. "Duo. If you don't take this plate, I will drop it on you."

Duo glared at him but took the plate and held it. "Well?"

"Well what?" Heero said as he stalked to the other side of the room and picked up his shoes to put them on.

Duo guessed that he had kicked them off some time in the night. "You know bloody well what. Why are you acting so... NOT Heero-like?"

"Don't you ever accept anything without questioning it?" He sat on the foot of the bed, facing away from Duo, to put on his sneakers.

"Che. No." He looked down at the plate with disgust for a moment before setting it down. He wanted to eat something, hadn't done so in too long, but he wanted to talk to Heero first.

"You have to eat that."

Duo rolled his eyes at Heero knowing exactly what he was doing even with his back turned. "Heero, the last time I ate Wufei's cooking_"

"I made it."

`He... He cooked for me?' Duo gaped at him for a moment before recovering and poking at the plate. "I'm still not hungry." He blushed as his traitorous stomach growled but ignored it. He had to eat something soon, but right now he was busy. "So you still have to answer my question."

"Do I?"

"Yes!" Duo was getting annoyed now. No one had ever said he had notable patience, after all. "You do! I want to know why you're acting so weird all of a sudden! What was that yesterday?! We kissed!"

"Ha!" Heero looked a little angry now. "Did we, now. You and I both know that YOU kissed ME. And only on the CHEEK."

"That's beside the point! *I* didn't go crawling into YOUR bed! And what did you mean, I owe you?! I could have gone on that mission! No one asked you to! Since when do you even care if I live or_"

Heero was standing over him then, almost faster than he could see, cupping both Duo's cheeks in his hands and looking into his eyes from mere inches away. "Duo. Shut. Up." He leaned forward and kissed him then and Duo's eyes went wide. When he pulled back after a moment, he gazed into Duo's eyes.

Duo gazed back at him. "Uhm... Ok. That time, YOU kissed ME, Heero. Um. What for?"

"I'm answering your question." Heero said as if it should have been so obvious.

"Oh." Duo said intelligently. He grabbed the back of Heero's neck and pulled him forward for another kiss, this one longer and more intimate. When they pulled back, he smiled. "Huh."

"Nn?"

"I just never knew you even... You know... I dropped all those hints. I was pretty much throwing myself at you. I thought you were oblivious. Or very, very straight."

Heero shrugged. "Why should gender matter?"

Duo smiled. "Why are you asking me? I don't care about gender. I thought you did, though. I mean, Ithought you liked that Relena girl."

Heero actually chuckled. "Now who's oblivious, Duo?"

"Well, I mean, I dunno." He blushed, suddenly feeling stupid.

Stroking Duo's bangs out of his eyes, Heero smiled just barely. "I never looked at her that way, Duo. When I rescued you from that prison cell, do you know why I couldn't shoot you?"

"Because you needed me." Duo stated matter-of-factly. It wasn't the first time he had thought about it, and each time, he came to the conclusion that The Perfect Soldier merely knew that Duo was a good fighter and he needed to live for that reason.

Heero shook his head, "No. That was why I couldn't kill Relena. She was necessary for achieving peace. I couldn't kill you because you are the only person that matters to me. Ever. I never let you know because I'm
not good at friendships, much less relationships, and we could die in battle at any given time but now I think that maybe that is a good reason to tell you all this. I... I like you. And that is why I took the mission for you. I wasn't going to sit by and watch you get yourself killed."

After a short moment to think about that, Duo smiled brightly. "You'd better be careful, Heero. You are in danger of becoming a likeable guy."

Heero smirked.

Remembering something else, Duo sobered up. "I owe you."

Heero nodded. "Hai."

Duo squirmed slightly. "Um. What did you mean when you said that?"

Taking one of Duo's hands in both of his own, Heero sat by him on the bed. "I was hoping that you'd give this a chance. You know. Us." He gestured between them. "And... Truth be told, sometimes I have trouble
sleeping, too. But last night..."

Duo nodded. "I know. It was the same for me. I think I love you." He looked at their hands. "So where do we go from here?"

Heero smiled and gazed into his eyes. "Where ever we want."

Duo smiled as well as their eyes met and held. "Where ever we want..." He leaned in close to Heero so their lips were just barely touching. "I like the sound of that." He realized that for all Heero's seemingly harsh behavior, it was just his way of showing he cared, trying to get Duo to be more careful, take better care of himself. When Duo needed a hand up, Heero was always there. And, suddenly, he realized that he always had been.

As their lips met, everything melted away. The war, the destroyed church, anything else that could stand between them and happiness, seemed like a distant memory, and nothing, so help him God, could ever
break his lips from Heero's so long as he lived.

Just then, as if to argue with that last thought, his stomach growled noisily.

`Damn.'
